There are a lot of good reasons to convert your PowerPoint graphics into PNGs... Especially if you are using Articulate. It can reduce file size and simplify a cluttered slide. You can also do cool stuff like set transparent areas; Tom Kuhlmann has a great screenr on that http://screenr.com/YTC I despise repetition in my daily life and often create snippets of code to automate stuff I find myself doing over and over. In this case I created a PowerPoint add-in that puts a button on the Ribbon that quickly does the cut-paste for me. I thought others might find it handy so I put it here for freebies. Here is a quick screenr on how it works:
UPDATE 2010 Aug 25: You can now define the font, font color, font size, and border and background colors for each of your tooltip hotspots. Valid fonts are: Articulate, Articulate Extrabold, Articulate Light, and Articulate Narrow.
Create rollover "hotspots" on your Articulate Presenter slides with this Flash widget. When a learner's mouse hovers over a hotspot, this widget will play an audio file, display a text tooltip, or both! Design your slide as usual in Powerpoint/Articulate Presenter, insert "hotspotRollover.swf" onto each slide on which you want to have rollover audio/text tooltip hotspots, then publish. No Flash experience needed. Define as many hotspots on each slide as you want. Just edit the "hotspots.xml" file in any text editor after you publish your course to define your tooltip text, audio file, size, and position of each hotspot.
Create multiple hotspots per slide and have multiple slides with hotspots in a single presentation.
